Bullitt Detention Center Releases
Bullitt County Detention Center is the county's principal custody facility. It is run by the elected Bullitt County Jailer, not the sheriff and not Kentucky Department of Corrections. A pretrial person may leave on recognizance, an unsecured or secured bond, or other court conditions while the case remains open. A sentenced person may complete a local term or receive time-served credit. Dismissal of one charge can support release, but it does not cancel another valid hold.
Other exits continue custody. The person may transfer to another county jail, a KDOC institution or state-authority bed, U.S. Marshals custody, or immigration custody. A state prisoner physically housed at Bullitt may be paroled, discharged, or moved under KDOC rules. The jail's booking and release document should record the local date and time, release reason or disposition, and a receiving agency or destination when that field is kept.

Confirm Bullitt Detention Releases
The official Bullitt current-inmate page frames JailTracker. Its label is important. It tests whether a person appears in current custody; it does not publish an official released-person archive, release-date filter, or rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release list. A missing name may reflect release, transfer, movement to KDOC, another hold, a spelling mismatch, record correction, data lag, or an outage.
- Search the current roster using the person's correct name. Treat a match as a current display and no match only as a reason to continue.
- Check Kentucky VINE for that specific person. Read the status, location, and event labels exactly, then confirm a release event with the source agency.
- Search KOOL when state custody or supervision is possible. A KDOC status can remain visible after the county roster drops the name.
- Review the Bullitt District and Circuit Court files for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or later orders. A legal order is not always the physical exit time.
- Request the jail's existing booking, release, and transfer fields. That is the decisive county-record fallback.

Request Bullitt Release Records
The jail requires a written open-records request. For an inmate record, give the person's full name and date of birth. Type or print legibly, include the requester's printed name and signature, identify the existing records sought, and provide a mailing address. Email or mail may be used at any time; hand delivery follows public business hours.
A narrow request can ask for the booking sheet or register entry, booking photograph, release date and time, disposition or reason field, transfer or destination entry, commitment or discharge document, and an existing legend for abbreviations. Do not ask staff to create a custom history or decide whether someone was “really free.” Agencies provide responsive existing records but need not answer open-ended questions.
Inspection by scheduled appointment is free. Black-and-white copies cost ten cents per page. Existing electronic records are free through four megabytes. Larger responsive material is placed on a $5 flash drive and mailed, with postage charged. The jail states a five-business-day response period, excluding weekends and legal holidays. That is a response deadline, not guaranteed production within five days. Kentucky's resident rule and its exceptions appear in KRS 61.870 and 61.872, so access should not be promised to every remote requester.
The records page lists ZIP 40031 while the general contact page uses 40165. Confirm the mailing detail before sending hard copy. The records email accepts requests, not status questions.

Bullitt Detention Release Timing
The jail states that releases or bonding are not conducted during three daily blocks: 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to noon, and 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. These are safety and processing limits, not a scheduled exit time for any person. Weekday bonding from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. is directed to the Bullitt County Judicial Center. After hours, on weekends, and during court closures, bond payments go to marked door 118 at the detention center.
Door 118 is a bond location. The research does not establish it as the physical release exit. No official family waiting area, post-release transport service, property-return deadline, or gate-money policy was found. The jail also says visitors cannot bring property for inmates. Call 502-543-7263 rather than assume a pickup place, time, or procedure.
Note: Posted bond hours help with payment planning but do not predict when release processing will finish.
Bullitt Detention State Overlap
Bullitt County Detention Center can house people who fall within the KDOC correctional universe. KDOC daily-release reports have named Bullitt as a release location. That overlap does not turn a state report into a full Bullitt county-jail release list. County bond-outs, dismissals, time-served exits, and transfers may not appear there.
For a state prisoner, search Kentucky Online Offender Lookup and review the live status, institution or supervision location, offender number, offense and sentence data, and date labels. Parole eligibility, proposed release, minimum expiration, and discharge are distinct fields. If KOOL shows supervision, KDOC Probation and Parole can route the public inquiry. When the physical exit from Bullitt matters, pair that state record with the jail's release entry.
Bullitt Detention ICE Transfers
Bullitt County Detention Center entered an ICE 287(g) Jail Enforcement Model agreement in March 2025. This is a county-specific reason why the local criminal hold can end without a return to the community. The agreement authorizes defined immigration-enforcement functions under its terms.
The agreement is not proof that a named person has an immigration case. It also does not show that all foreign-born people are affected or prove a separate general bed contract. If the Bullitt release or transfer record identifies an immigration hold or transfer, search the ICE Online Detainee Locator and contact ICE when a no-result needs review. State only what each agency record proves.
Bullitt Flood Custody Transfer
Flooding in April 2025 forced the Bullitt jail to evacuate. A local report said 123 people were temporarily housed at Grayson County Detention Center, then returned. This was an emergency placement, not a normal Bullitt release destination and not a permanent facility relationship.

The evacuation shows why even a large roster change can mean temporary relocation rather than release from custody.
That lesson applies to one person too. A current-roster disappearance should be described narrowly until the release or transfer entry identifies the outcome. Grayson County should not be treated as a routine release destination, and no permanent Grayson facility page belongs in Bullitt's facility list.
Bullitt Detention Record Limits
KRS 61.872 governs request and inspection mechanics, KRS 61.874 addresses copies and fees, KRS 61.878 lists exemptions, and KRS 61.880 covers agency responses and the Attorney General appeal process. In decision 25-ORD-137, dated May 27, 2025, the Kentucky Attorney General found that Bullitt County Detention Center had missed the five-business-day response requirement and, at that time, had not displayed required rules and custodian information. The present jail page now publishes its procedures.
That ruling does not guarantee access to each requested field. Privacy, active enforcement, preliminary material, confidentiality, expungement, sealing, and other lawful limits may apply. Retention depends on the exact Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives record series. A roster page disappearing is not evidence that the underlying booking or release record was destroyed.
