For inmate records, submit the full name and date of birth, a clear description, the requester's printed name and signature, and a mailing address. The records email is for requests, not status questions. The jail posts a five-business-day response period, though that is not a promise of production within five days.

For a state offender, use KOOL first, then direct a public discharge or sentence-record request to Kentucky Department of Corrections, Division of Public Affairs, Attn: Open Records Coordinator, P.O. Box 2400, Frankfort, KY 40602. Email correctionsopenrecords@ky.gov or fax 502-564-9575.

Choose the route that fits the need:

  • Use the home page for a released-person search and Bullitt record-request steps.
  • Use Probation & Parole to trace state supervision.
  • Check Jail Releases: 24 Hours for the county's recent-release fallback process.
  • Compare Projected Release with VINELink Inmate Search for dates and alerts.
  • Use the facility pages for Bullitt jail and Kentucky corrections details.
  • Use KOOL for sentenced state prisoners, BOP for federal prison records, and ICE for immigration custody.

Bullitt Request Response History

Kentucky Attorney General decision 25-ORD-137 found that Bullitt County Detention Center missed the five-business-day response requirement and, at that time, did not display the required rules and custodian information. The current jail page now lists its custodian, hours, fee schedule, and response period. Requesters should keep proof of delivery and the agency's response. The ruling does not make every requested item public, and exemptions or redactions may still apply.
